2025 Legislative Luncheon brings area community leaders together
The RVRC hosted the annual Legislative Luncheon on May 22 in Americus at South Georgia Technical College at 10:30 a.m. Approximately 170 attendees from state and local government agencies in the River Valley Region attended the event, ranging from local mayors, city council members, county commissioners, and educators, to state congresspeople and representatives from several state agencies.
During the luncheon, a delegate from Representative Sanford Bishop’s office addressed the eager crowd, giving an update on various House victories and challenges that are likely to have an impact on the region. Up next were delegates from the offices of Senators Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff, who updated attendees on upcoming legislation in the US senate which is expected to impact the River Valley Region.
Finally, Georgia Representatives, Patty Stinson (District 150), Gerald Greene (District 154), and Mike Cheokas (District 151) joined Georga Senator, Freddie Powell Sims to discuss local issues, concerns, and challenges in the region. The four speakers, who have a combined 94 years of legislative experience, discussed issues that are facing local voters and outlined the steps that their respective assemblies are taking to address local and statewide concerns.
