Broadband & Connectivity

Connecting Our Communities to the Broadband Network

As the digital world grows, the RVRC recognizes the need to develop and maintain a healthy regional broadband infrastructure. But due to declining populations in rural areas of the region combined with the market driven utility that is wired and wireless internet, broadband connectivity is unaccessible and unreliable for many living in rural areas.

The RVRC is working alongside the State of Georgia, which has taken numerous actions toward accessibility, to increase access to broadband connectivity across the area. The Georgia Technology Authority as well as the Georgia Department of Community Affairs currently oversee the Georgia Broadband Deployment Initiative, which includes a Georgia State Broadband Plan to identify, evaluate, and recommend options which can be implemented by governments and providers. Additionally, the RVRC has conducted a general survey to determine internet needs in the region.
